Chris Pyne MP Champions Ethical Chocolate in Australian Parliament20 October 2008 In support of the Don’t Trade Lives campaign, Chris Pyne MP put forward a private members motion to “shine a light” on the plight of hundreds of thousands of West African children, who are forced into back-breaking labour on cocoa farms in Ivory Coast and Ghana which produce almost three quarters of the cocoa beans used in chocolate. Bruce Billson MP and Anna Burke MP supported Pyne’s motion. Read more

Kerry Rea, Federal MP for Bonner in Queensland, introduced a private member's business motion to the House of Representatives on the issue of human trafficking. Member of the NSW Legislative Council and Opposition Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Aboriginal Affairs, The Hon Robyn Parker, gave a speech in the Council in support of the Don’t Trade Lives Campaign. Chris Pyne, the Federal MP for Sturt in SA, has written to the PM asking for the Government to consider purchasing only Fair Trade chocolate for vending machines for Government Departments across Australia. He explains further in a short speech he gave to the House of Representatives on 29 May.
Rosanna Baptist Church in Victoria promote Don’t Trade Lives6 April 2008 A passionate Don’t Trade Lives supporter organised a presentation on the campaign at her local church in Rosanna, Victoria.
